Vidal brought the subject of homosexuality to the forefront even when America wasn't ready to deal with it: When E.P. In any case, I never felt Vidal's sexuality was the point: he told us as much about his romantic life in his first novel, “Williwaw,” and in “The City and the Pillar,” as I find necessary. Our book group read this as a sort of homage to the author, who died earlier this year. Our Gay section on Amazon is I'd say 98% not Kindled yet, in time we are going to see publishers running to get their books into the ebook formats. Meanwhile his third novel, published in 1948, featured homosexuality (The City and The Pillar), and in 1968 he published Myra Breckenridge, a satirical comedy about a transsexual.
